Ingredients

  • 4 large slices Italian bread, cut into bite-size cubes

  • 2½ tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ¼ teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

  • 2–3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder, optional

  • ½ teaspoon dried parsley flakes, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.

  2. Cut the Italian bread into bite-size cubes and place them in a large bowl.

  3. Drizzle the bread with the olive oil and melted butter. Toss until the bread is evenly coated.

  4. Add the garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, Parmesan, and optional onion powder and parsley flakes. Toss again until evenly seasoned.

  5. Spread the bread cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet.

  6. Bake for 8 minutes, then stir or flip the croutons.

  7. Return to the oven and bake for another 4–7 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

  8. Let the croutons cool for about 5 minutes before serving. They will continue to crisp as they cool.
